Date Filtering in Saved Searches

Date filters are among the most common criteria in saved searches. You can use fixed dates for historical analysis or dynamic dates that automatically adjust as time passes. Understanding when to use each type is essential for building effective searches.

Fixed vs. Dynamic Dates

📌 Fixed (Static) Dates

Specific calendar dates that never change.

  • Entered as exact dates (e.g., 1/1/2024)
  • Search always returns same date range
  • Use for historical analysis
  • Requires manual updates

Example:
Date is on or after 1/1/2024 AND Date is on or before 3/31/2024

🔄 Dynamic (Relative) Dates

Date ranges that adjust automatically over time.

  • Use relative selectors (e.g., "This Month")
  • Results change as time passes
  • Use for ongoing reporting
  • No manual updates needed

Example:
Date is within This Fiscal Quarter

Dynamic Date Selectors

NetSuite provides many built-in relative date selectors:
